Culture Shock Weekend Mural

Danville Illinois has always been a place of amazing culture. If you live here you may not even be aware of it, but our town is the birthplace of historical excellence! I was proud to be asked to participate in the En Masse mural in historic downtown Danville in September 2016. The pictures below are a few examples of the awesome mural created by local artists for the Culture Shock music and arts festival in Danville Illinois.

I painted the locomotive, (mostly in spray paint because the part of the wall I had to paint was so bumpy that I could not paint it with a brush). Regardless of the obstacles (bugs, heat, bumpy wall, artist block), we got the job (pretty much) done. It was a huge wall to fill and we could probably add more crazy and weird things to it.

A special thanks goes out to my friend John Rackow, (our local Danville High School art teacher) for bringing us all together and organizing the project. I will add more photos when I’ve had the chance to fill in the rest of the uncompleted parts of the painting next to my locomotive.

Another special thanks to my store manager at Lowe’s, Christy Patient for donating some paint and brushes to the project.

Keep calm and paint on!
